1-10-94 Broken Modem
Try sending AT&F&W to the modem from terminal mode to set it back to
factory defaults.
If you are using the late version of software AND/OR if your
modem/fax/scanner has been working fine but now is not, AND >>> you have
not changed/added any software/hardware to your system <<<, then call
Customer service 617-423-1072 for RA # for repair. If the defect is within
30 days of purchase, the dealer will usually exchange it.
All "Rockwell" and "Sierra" chipset modems have a 7 year warranty with
two exceptions. The V32 Turbo modems, and the large white 2400 V42bis modem
have 2 year warranty each. We can normally tell by the serial # if the
modem is still in warranty. So include the serial # (bracket of internals,
bottom of others).
>> OOW (out of warranty) repairs are $30 flat rate, including lighting
or other damaged ones.
For overseas, return shipping and other expenses are paid by the user.
The circa 1985-87 full card PC modems and modems with 'TI' chipsets
can no longer be repaired.
As with any product, ALL REFUNDS are handled solely by the place of
purchase, and are subject to their terms at time of purchase.
If you have an FC9624 which doesn't work with STF (Mac) you can
upgrade the modem for $25 to FC9624M, or to FC9624V (v42bis) for $35. Call
for RA#.
If you Fax for an RA#, do so - ATT: David Fortin. You will need the
model & serial # (chrome bracket of internal PC, bottom of external,
battery compartment of Pocket, back of the board on Powerbook).
